Frequently Asked Questions

What Is A Club Sandwich?

A club sandwich, also known as a “clubhouse sandwich”, is a sandwich with three slices of bread with two layers of meat! Sliced, cooked poultry, ham or fried bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise are the typical ingredients. It is often cut into quarters or halves and held together by cocktail sticks. This isn’t your everyday, run of the mill sammy!

What Type Of Bread Should I use?

You can use your preference of bread! White, Whole Wheat, Sourdough, Rye, Pumpernickel – you name it, you can use it!

Can I Use Chicken Instead?

Of course! “Club” actually stands for ‘Chicken & Lettuce Under Bacon’ Although, for my recipe we are using turkey, you can substitute it with cooked chicken instead!

Why Is There 3 Pieces Of Bread?

Nobody actually knows, I would assume it is because of how much meat there is in this baby! The extra slice balances out the meat to bread ratio, in my opinion.

How To Serve

I always serve my sandwiches with a side of chips! It’s a classic. You can however, opt for a side salad or french fries, the choice is totally up to you!

Tips

  1. Secure the sandwich layers together with a toothpick or cocktail stick!
  2. Switch out the cheese for a spicy jalapeno cheddar for an extra kick.
  3. You can change up the ingredients to suit your preference!

Leftovers

I can only assume you will not have any leftovers, of course you make a sandwich to eat it. If by chance, this monster, double decker sandwich was too much to eat in one go, leftovers can be kept for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator.
