This September and October, outdoor lovers and party seekers alike are invited to enjoy the ultimate refreshing day on the water with Lake Mead Mohave Adventures’ (LMMA) new Party Boat Experience during “Secret Season.” Promising the perfect way to elevate any Las Vegas getaway, LMMA offers round-trip shuttle service from the Las Vegas Strip to nearby Callville Bay Marina as well as an all-day pontoon boat rental for up to 12 guests.

Each patio pontoon comes equipped with a spacious top-level sun deck and waterslide—guaranteeing sun-soaked fun throughout the day. A barbecue grill and wet bar makes mealtime satisfying and easy, while an accessible bathroom with running hot water and shower help keep guests comfortable. The excitement doesn’t end there – guests can also add a personal watercraft or small boat rental to their experience to up the ante.

For added convenience, guests can also order lunch from LMMA for an additional cost. The cookout menu, available for $36 per person, features a selection of classic grill favorites, including hotdogs and hamburgers served with brioche and regular buns; a variety of toppings such as lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles; and condiments such as ketchup, mustard and burger sauce.

The meal is complemented by side dishes such as potato salad; a fresh salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers; seasonal fruit cups; chips; and cookies. Guests can freshly grill their selections aboard the boat and vegetarian and vegan options can also be requested for an additional charge.

Alternatively, the box lunch menu, available for $32 per person, includes freshly made sandwiches with turkey breast, ham and cheese or a vegan chickpea salad wrap. Each box also contains chips, a fruit cup, a cookie and a drink, with a vegan cookie provided with the chickpea wrap.

After visitors arrive at their marina of choice, they’ll receive orientation on how to pilot the boats. LMMA’s staff then helps guests navigate out of the marina and onto the open lake. Once there, guests can pilot the boat across the water and enjoy the ruggedly beautiful landscape. If the designated captain of the boat is born before Jan. 1, 1983, they will need to attend a brief safety orientation upon arrival. If born after, the captain will need to present a Boater Education Card ($45) upon arrival. Information about the card can be found here. For an additional fee, groups of up to 11 guests can also hire a LMMA captain to pilot their boat for a truly relaxed experience.

“‘Secret Season’ is the best time of the year to experience our party boat offer at Lake Mead and Lake Mohave,” said Chad Taylor, director of marketing and guest experience, Lake Mead Mohave Adventures. “Kids are back in school, the summer tourists are gone, the weather begins to cool down but the water is still warm through the end of October. It’s the best kept recreational secret in Southern Nevada.”

LMMA’s shuttles pick up guests on the Strip between 8 and 9 a.m. and return back to Las Vegas between 4 and 5 p.m. The party boat offer, including a patio pontoon rental and round-trip transportation for up to 12 guests, starting at $1,399 at Callville Bay Marina. Fuel, tax, refundable deposit and gratuity are not included.

For an additional fee, groups of up to 11 guests can also hire a captain, who works independently from LMMA, to pilot their boat for a truly relaxed experience. Guests may inquire when they make reservations.  For more information and reservations, visit callvillebay.com.

And for an instant infusion of vitamins, visit the exclusive NutriDrip IV therapy boutique, located in Clean Market on the Spa level at Wynn Las Vegas.
Re-Energize

There’s no place like Las Vegas for the holidays, as festive decorations and jolly events usher in the celebratory season. Locally cherished and brand-new winter wonderland displays pop up throughout the destination, making Vegas an ideal spot to take in the sights and sounds of the holidays.
AREA15 is bringing back a unique viewing experience of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas for a second year. Held from Thursday, Nov. 24 to Thursday, Dec. 29 at The Portal, the experience features floor-to-ceiling projection mapping, immersive light and sound, and a curated cocktail menu.
The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens at Bellagio Resort & Casino transforms into a winter wonderland with its “Gingerbread Dreams” display running through Sunday, Jan. 1. Complete with scenes of a holiday village and polar bears, the presentation also features a snowy gingerbread house (complete with a smoking chimney) that visitors can walk through. Its centerpiece is a 42-foot holiday tree, decorated with thousands of ornaments and warm white lights.
The rooftop Legacy Club lounge at Circa Resort & Casino invites visitors to don their most unsightly sweaters for its Ugly Sweater Party. Set for Friday, Dec. 16, the festive celebration includes an ugly sweater contest, themed cocktails, holiday cookies, live music and photo-worthy views from the 60th floor of the downtown resort.
Visitors can ice skate on more than 4,200 square feet of real ice at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, as it brings back The Ice Rink at the resort’s Boulevard Pool. Running through Monday, Jan. 2, the space also features opportunities to roast s’mores at fire pits, seasonal cocktails, classic holiday films on its marquee and breathtaking rooftop views surrounded by vibrant city lights.
A longtime local tradition, the Holiday Cactus Garden at Ethel M Chocolates features millions of sparkling holiday lights across three acres of desert landscaping. The experience, running through Sunday, Jan. 1, is complete with sweet treats, hot chocolate and visits from the Great Big Man in Red – and in the spirit of giving, each entrance fee collected will be donated to local charities within the valley: Help of Southern Nevada and Three Square Food Bank.
Excalibur Hotel & Casino’s Tournament of Kings dinner show brings back ‘Twas the Knight, a holiday rendition of the production, from Wednesday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, Dec. 25. Featuring jousting knights, a holiday-themed dinner menu, pyrotechnics and more, the show’s arena will transform into a winter wonderland during the limited engagement.
Fashion Show Las Vegas brings cheer to the Strip through Monday, Dec. 26 with a wide array of holiday-themed experiences, including festive photo opportunities, a holiday installation and more. Visitors can also take pictures with Santa and spread cheer through a donation program.
The Fremont Street Experience will bring back its Grand Menorah and Christmas tree, with a Grand Menorah lighting celebration planned for Sunday, Dec. 18. The downtown Las Vegas attraction will also host a fun-filled pre-show for The Las Vegas Great Santa Run on Saturday, Dec. 3. The event is complete with food trucks, vendors and live entertainment, with proceeds benefitting Opportunity Village, a local nonprofit that supports individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities.
The Hallmark Channel presents Enchant at Las Vegas Ballpark from Friday, Nov. 25 to Sunday, Jan. 1 and at Resorts World Las Vegas from Saturday, Nov. 19 to Sunday, Jan. 1. The two distinct winter experiences highlight themed walk-through mazes – “The Mischievous Elf” at the Las Vegas Ballpark and “The Great Search” at Resorts World Las Vegas – with each venue featuring more than 4 million sparkling lights, as well as ice skating, live entertainment, Santa visits and more.
The official gift show of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Cowboy Channel’s Cowboy Christmas features over 350 exhibitors from across the United States. A yearly tradition since 1986, the event is hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Thursday, Dec. 1 to Saturday, Dec. 10. In addition to the unique products available for purchase, Cowboy Christmas features interactive experiences, live entertainment and free entry to all visitors.
Visitors can enjoy a display of over 5 million holiday lights without leaving their car at Glittering Lights at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The drive-through spectacle runs through Sunday, Jan. 8 with a portion of each ticket benefitting Speedway Children’s Charities, a group of over 50 children’s charities in Southern Nevada.
The LINQ Promenade is decked out for the holiday season through the New Year with light displays and a towering, 30-foot tree.
A gentle flurry of snowflakes will fall from The M Resort Spa & Casino from Wednesday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, Jan. 8 at the Snow Carnival Holiday Forest. The family-friendly experience features real snow and is complete with winter treats and drinks, a “mini-Matterhorn” slide ride and more.
Mystic Falls Park at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall transforms into a winter wonderland from Wednesday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Jan. 1. The attraction and display will feature festive décor (including an 18-foot Christmas tree), more than 26,000 lights and a nine-minute holiday laser light show set to a variety of classic yuletide songs.
The Shops at Crystals presents Immersive Nutcracker, a multisensory exhibit of the classic Christmas tale, through Friday, Dec. 30. The 30-minute experience, spanning 500,000 cubic feet, features an introduction to the art of ballet and storytelling—all set to the familiar music of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The Nevada Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Celebrating its 50th year, the company’s annual performance has become a local holiday tradition. Choreographed by James Canfield, NBT’s iteration of the classic ballet is a magical journey through a larger-than-life world filled with waltzing flowers, nimble fairies, and moonlit snow. The holiday classic runs from Friday, Dec. 9 to Saturday, Dec. 24.
Tivoli Village will be transformed with thousands of twinkling lights, a 40-foot holiday tree, ornaments adorning its fountain, and wreaths and garlands. New York-New York launched a $63 million room remodel project this week of its 1,830 rooms and 155 of its suites. When completed in the summer of 2023, the accommodations will feature vibrant new designs and upgraded in-room amenities that will appeal to travelers from around the world.

Crafted by hospitality design firm HVS Design in partnership with MGM Resorts International Design Group, the design aesthetic draws inspiration from the energy and excitement of two of the world’s great cities — Las Vegas and New York City.

The remodel features design details that harken to New York City, such as rooms with exposed faux brick walls and accent colors such as Big Apple Red and Taxicab Yellow. These elements subtly bring the ‘City that Never Sleeps’ to life in the Entertainment Capital of the World. Reflecting a thoughtful use of space, rooms will incorporate modern conveniences such as moveable work surfaces, readily available USB/USB-C power outlets and additional shelving and closet space.

“It’s an exciting time at New York-New York. We recently launched Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple show to tremendous feedback from our guests.” said Michael Neubecker, the resort’s President & COO. “To embark on a remodel of our rooms and suites is the next step in keeping the resort fresh and giving guests new reasons to visit. Whether coming for business or pleasure, guests will find our new rooms offer a stylish and modern respite as they enjoy the excitement of Las Vegas.”

Christine Shanahan, Principal at HVS Design, said, “As we envisioned our design for this project, we incorporated that New York City vibe and twisted it with bold colors and pops of energy to blend with Las Vegas, stressing functionality as a key factor. Guests will experience the feel of a loft apartment with convenient touchpoints and amenities designed to make them feel right at home.”

Completion of all guest rooms and Spa, Marquis and Players suites is scheduled for summer 2023 with the first collection of standard and premier rooms available for guest stays in late October 2022.

The room remodel is the next phase of a resort transformation that includes the recently launched “Mad Apple”; the refurbished and rebranded Big Apple Coaster with new trains for a smoother ride; and the revamped Big Apple Arcade with updated games and the latest RFID technology. More enhancements to the property will be announced in the coming months.

Great Vegas Festival of Beer returns this spring with Nevada’s largest craft beer festival to date, for the first time expanding to two days on Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8, with more than 10,000 attendees expected throughout both days. Produced by Motley Brews and set to the backdrop of Downtown Las Vegas, the seventh annual Great Vegas will offer tastings of more than 500 craft beers from 110 breweries.

“Great Vegas Festival of Beer was founded to enhance the beer drinking experience,” said Brian Chapin, founder and CEO of Motley Brews. “This year we’re taking that premise to a new level through the addition of a Friday night event, the Mad Craft Experience, that is basically a science fair for beer lovers. Both days will go beyond samplings to explore new types of experimentation with beer.” Chapin demonstrated Las Vegas’ thirst for craft beer with the inaugural Great Vegas Festival of Beer in 2011, which quickly sold out to more than 2,000 attendees. The event has grown from year to year, prompting an expansion to two days in 2017.

Mad Craft Experience

The new Mad Craft Experience will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, April 7. The food and beer-inclusive event will host various experimentations with beer pairing top chefs and brewers, as well as rare pours and special guests. The Great Vegas Grand Tasting will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, with early entry at 2 p.m. Throughout both days, Great Vegas will offer beer-infused and inspired cuisine by some of Las Vegas’ top chefs, life-sized pub games and interactive entertainment.

Tickets

Tickets for the Mad Craft Experience start at $70 plus fees.  Tickets start at $40 plus fees for Saturday’s Grand Tasting, providing access to the festival from 3 to 7 p.m. along with a tasting glass, unlimited beer samples and entertainment options including a silent disco, BrewLogic seminars and more. Early admission tickets are also available, providing entry at 2 p.m., priced at $50 plus fees.

VIP tickets to the Grand Tasting, Great Vegas’ most coveted credential, are priced at $85 plus a service fee, and include early entry at 2 p.m., access to the VIP Brewers Lounge, which includes a rotating tap of limited release and rare beers, a decadent spread of top-notch cuisine prepared by celebrated Las Vegas chefs, a lounge area and more. VIP tickets are limited. Tickets are available for purchase now at www.greatvegasbeer.com.

Charities…

A portion of the proceeds from the event always benefit local non-profits. Last year’s charities included the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation and Nevada Craft Brewers Association.  More information about Great Vegas Festival of Beer is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @MotleyBrews, or on the website at www.greatvegasbeer.com/.
